Thanks for reply rick. Now I don’t have that error but still can’t connect to the server. I found the following in rsync log:

2010/10/21 09:38:54 [12495] params.c:Parameter() – Ignoring badly formed line in configuration file: ignore errors
2010/10/21 09:38:54 [12495] name lookup failed for xx.xx.xx.xx: Name or service not known
2010/10/21 09:38:54 [12495] connect from UNKNOWN (xx.xx.xx.xx)
2010/10/21 09:38:54 [12495] module-list request from UNKNOWN (xx.xx.xx.xx)

you have any idea?

Hakemon,

In rsyncd.conf file, please make sure you have entered your client server’s IP for “hosts allow = xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx”

Next, please make sure you have started rsync server by running this command
/etc/init.d/rsyncd status

Restart rsync service. Hope this help you solve the problem.

I got this error when connecting from the client. Already check the firewall that port 873 is open.

rsync: read error: Connection reset by peer (104)
rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(614) [sender=2.6.8]
